2 Omanis named global cybersecurity influencers

Two Omani cybersecurity professionals have been recognised among hundreds of experts from around the world to be included in the IFSEC Global Top Influencers in Security & Fire 2021 list.

On July 21, this year’s list of IFSEC Global Top Influencers was announced. These were selected from hundreds of nominations in a judging process by a highly respected international panel. 

The influencer awards span seven categories including commercial security, fire safety and cybersecurity. 

Eng Badar Ali Said al Salehi, director general of Oman National CERT, was named in the Commercial Security – Security Executives category, while Maiysa Said al Dhanki, assistant manager for Cyber Security at EY, in the Security: End Users category. 

According to IFSEC (International Fire and Security Exhibition and Conference), Salehi is a dynamic leader with more than 20 years of work and professional experience in cybersecurity, and is focused on making the world a safer cyber and digital space. 

Salehi has a demonstrated track record of leading and contributing to national, regional and international efforts and initiatives including the establishment of national CERTs, national digital forensics labs, the ITU Regional Cyber Security Centre and Capacity Building and has been a key speaker at regional, national and international events. 

In addition to being the director general of Oman National CERT, he is the head of the Regional Cyber Security Centre of International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialised ICT agency of United Nations. 

Maiysa is a professional experienced in cybersecurity, which she has demonstrated across MENA and at an international level in multiple engagements, including participation in various cyber security events and projects. 

She has a Master’s degree from Royal Holloway University  of London and is certified as Chief Information Security Officer, lead implementer and lead auditor and certified IT DR Planner. 

Maiysa was recently feted at the Women in Cybersecurity Middle East 2020 awards in the ‘Woman Cybersecurity Consultant’ category.
