Muscat Municipality has announced that non-Omanis are prohibited from engaging in commercial activities in the Seeb Central Market.
A statement issued by the municipality said that a decision in this regard has been taken considering the Omanisation programme enacted by the government to replace expatriate workers with trained Omani personnel and based on the Muscat Municipality’s pursuit to enhance the business environment for Omani youth.
As per the decision, the municipality will be limiting the engagement of people in Seeb Central Market (belonging to Muscat Municipality) to Omanis only from January 1, 2022.
“All holders of contracts with Muscat Municipality must correct their situation as of the date thereof,” it stated.
Muscat Municipality and the Ministry of Labour called on everyone to cooperate fully to support Omani cadres by implementing the decision.
