All public events suspended: SC

The Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic has decided to prohibit all social and public events starting Thursday, January 28, until further notice. It also decided to postpone the opening of direct education at colleges and universities.

The committee recommended that citizens and residents avoid travel outside the sultanate unless absolutely necessary. 

The Supreme Committee held a meeting on Wednesday under the chairmanship of H E Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, and based on the recommendation of the specialised technical team, decided to postpone the expansion of blended education in public schools. 

It also ordered the suspension of international events, activities and conferences within the sultanate, and suspension of local public events and activities, including sporting activities and exhibitions of all kinds.
