Muscat – Two Arab nationals have been arrested for allegedly defrauding an Omani citizen of RO29,000 through schemes that falsely promised to multiply his money and generate financial profits, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has announced.

The arrests were made by the North Batinah Police Command in cooperation with the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation.

According to the ROP, the suspects obtained the money through deceptive methods, exploiting the victim’s expectations of financial gains. The police did not disclose further details about the suspects or the circumstances surrounding the alleged fraud.

The case has prompted the ROP to renew its warning to the public about fraud and extortion, particularly schemes that use unrealistic financial promises to lure victims into handing over money.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant, avoid engaging with suspected fraudsters and exercise caution when approached with offers promising unusually high or quick returns.

It also advised people not to be deceived by enticing claims or unverified investment opportunities and to report fraudulent or suspicious activities immediately.

The public can report such cases through the ROP hotline 80077444.

The ROP urged people to verify suspicious offers before making financial commitments and to avoid transferring money to individuals or entities whose claims cannot be independently confirmed.
