Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) announced that it has launched a new electrical fault management system (EFMS) to curb production losses from the power failure.
‘A new user-friendly EFMS has been launched to help in reducing the loss of production from power failures. The application makes it simpler to report faults and allows for more detailed scrutiny of breakdowns,’ PDO said in the latest edition of its monthly newsletter Al Fahal.
The new EFMS tracks all outages, monitors oil and gas deferment and visually displays the fault reporter’s key performance indicators (KPIs). The new EFMS dashboard also allows users to carry out detailed analysis with the live data on the system to save time and effort, thereby enabling innovation and robust decision making.
Commenting on the application, which is aligned with Nibras in terms of the reporting of oil and gas deferment figures, Salim al Haddabi, corporate functional electrical discipline head at PDO, said, “The new EFMS is a great enabler for keeping detailed outage records and in-depth analysis with the aim of ensuring the power flow to our facilities is maintained,” .
PDO’s power integrity and vendor lead Humaid al Omairi, said, “The new enhanced EFMS is a big improvement on the existing system. It comes with new features that make electrical fault reporting user-friendly with detailed analysis capabilities and consistency in reporting electrical outages.
“This will help us to set up a mitigation plan for each failure and reduce the oil and gas deferment that may occur as a result.”
