Expat fined RO5,000 for selling chewing tobacco

The Court of First Instance in Rustaq has issued a sentence against an Asian national for violating the Consumer Protection Law promulgated by Royal Decree 66/2014. It imposed a fine of RO5,000 on the violator.

 

The case refers to seizure of 58 rolls of tobacco or chewing tobacco by a team of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection in Rustaq.

 

The national’s act was contrary to Article 7 which states, ‘It is prohibited to trade any counterfeit or unauthorised merchandise. It is banned to advertise such products and the regulation defines what is considered fraudulent, corrupt or counterfeit.
