To reduce the use of chewing tobacco among school students and teenagers, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) conducted a campaign covering 37 schools in South Batinah.
The campaign, which lasted over three months was called ‘Tobacco Silent Killer’. Salim bin Mohammad al Abri, Director of the Consumer Protection Department in Rustaq, said the campaign targeted students of public schools to make them aware of the health and social risks resulting from the consumption of tobacco.
The campaign covered the basic education schools in Rustaq, Mussanah and Al Awabi. “It comprised activities such as lectures and exhibitions containing display of many types of chewing tobacco products. The campaign aimed to prevent the spread of chewing tobacco habit among school students.”
