Muscat – The Acting Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, Commodore Jassim bin Mohammed al Balushi, formally received Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Commander of the Western Maritime Region of Republic of India on Thursday. The high-level meeting was attended by a military delegation accompanying the Vice Admiral, highlighting the strong strategic ties between the two nations. During the discussions, both sides exchanged views on several maritime issues and addressed military topics of mutual concern, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation in regional security.

Following the initial meeting, Vice Admiral Swaminathan and his delegation visited the Maritime Security Centre. Upon arrival, the Indian naval leader was welcomed by Commodore Adil bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Head of the Maritime Security Centre. The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to receive a comprehensive briefing on the roles and responsibilities of the centre, particularly its ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of the maritime environment and navigation within Omani territorial waters.

The visiting delegation also toured the centre’s facilities, where they were shown the advanced technologies and modern systems employed to monitor and protect the maritime domain. This visit underscores the commitment of both Oman and India to maintaining stability in the region’s waters and reflects the continuous development of military relations between the Sultanate and the Republic of India.
