Oman to allow visa-free entry to Filipino tourists starting 2026

7 Dec 2025 Oman to grant visa-free entry for Philippines By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Oman will exempt citizens of the Philippines from tourist visa requirements starting next year, expanding the list of visa-free countries to 105. The move marks a shift in Muscat–Manila relations from a largely labour-based framework to broader cooperation in investment, industry and tourism, according to diplomatic sources.

Officials say the decision reflects growing trust between the two countries and aligns with Oman’s strategy to enhance its global presence. The exemption is expected to support bilateral trade, deepen economic ties and boost tourism inflows.

Diplomatic sources noted that concerns over the new policy remain limited as the Philippines maintains strict pre-departure procedures for its nationals. These include health clearances, financial proof, booked accommodation and confirmed travel plans. Oman applies similar standards for visitors, residents and foreign workers.

The Oman Visa and Medical Centre in Manila, inaugurated in July, has streamlined work-visa processing for Filipino employees. The centre offers biometric registration, medical tests, document authentication and contract verification, while providing awareness and support services for both workers and employers.

Officials also cited Oman’s role in securing the release of Filipino nationals detained in Yemen, a gesture that resonated positively with the public in the Philippines and reinforced mutual goodwill.

The upcoming second edition of the Cebu Investment Forum – scheduled to be held in Muscat in February 2026 following a successful inaugural event in the Philippines – is expected to further expand commercial and tourism cooperation.
