Muscat – H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, will preside over the wilayat of Seeb’s community initiative, the ‘Mass Wedding’, on Monday at Seeb Sports Stadium. The event, organised by the Seeb Social Development Committee, will support 120 couples preparing to marry and coincides with the National Day celebrations.

Hilal bin Hamad al Sarmi, Vice-Chairman of the Seeb Social Development Committee, said the initiative aims to ease marriage costs and promote family stability. He explained that participants must meet several conditions, including Omani nationality, residency in Seeb, first-time marriage to an Omani woman, an age limit of 45, and the payment of a nominal registration fee. The organising committee will provide the venue and manage all arrangements, including seating for the couples and their guests.

He added that couples are required to adhere to the schedules set for the marriage procedures and the ceremony. Preparations have been coordinated through ongoing meetings with the Department of Social Development, Al Seeb Club, and various volunteer and community groups.

Sarmi said the initiative reflects community cooperation and supports national efforts to build strong families. He also highlighted the establishment of the Marriage Fund under the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, describing it as an important step in enabling young people to marry and contribute to social cohesion.
