Muscat – The ports of Shannah and Masirah are currently experiencing a significant increase in the transit of both travellers and tourists during the current holiday period.

To ensure smooth movement and ease congestion, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police (ROP), has implemented a structured entry mechanism for ticket holders. This new protocol is designed to align the flow of passengers with the operating capacity of the national ferries.

Furthermore, the Ministry has coordinated with private ferry operators to schedule additional sailings, thereby increasing capacity and facilitating the transport of the high volume of visitors crossing to Masirah Island.
