Muscat – The General Federation of Oman Workers (GFOW) has announced that dozens of workers benefited from its support services this year, as the organisation intensified efforts to resolve labour disputes, enhance worker representation and ensure compliance with labour regulations across the sultanate.

According to figures released by the federation, 12 individual and collective complaints were addressed through negotiations. These cases involved a wide range of issues, including wage delay, leave entitlement, extended working hours, project transfer, project completion dispute, economic pressure, contract termination, and demand for better working conditions.

GFOW also intervened in amass layoff affecting 26 workers at one company, offering legal support and facilitating dialogue to ensure workers’ rights were upheld.

Of the disputes handled, five cases were resolved, three were referred to the courts, and four remain under follow-up.

The federation’s legal advisory services continue to see high demand, with 87 consultations offered to workers seeking guidance on employee rights and obligations.

In its ongoing efforts to improve organised labour, GFOW supported the formation of two new trade unions this year. Additionally, seven existing unions were assisted in aligning with legal and governance requirements, ensuring compliance with labour regulations.

GFOW reaffirmed its commitment to fostering constructive labour relations in Oman and ensuring workers have access to fair, transparent and legal mechanisms to address workplace grievances.
