ROP issues strict warning against vehicle modifications on national day

13 Nov 2025 ROP vehicle modification warning By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has delivered a firm warning to motorists across the Sultanate, cautioning against the dangerous practice of affixing extended items, such as poles or tools, directly onto the body or chassis of vehicles. This advisory, which includes a visual example of a car with large flags mounted, stresses that such modifications constitute a clear violation of traffic laws and present a great risk to public safety.

The ROP’s directive is unequivocal: it is strictly prohibited to place columns or extended tools on the vehicle’s frame, as this compromises the structural integrity and potentially turns the items into hazardous projectiles in the event of an accident or sudden stop. The police are imploring everyone to abide by the traffic regulations to safeguard their own well-being and that of other road users.

This proactive step underscores the ROP’s commitment to maintaining order and security on the roads, ensuring that the festive spirit or desire for modification does not inadvertently lead to dangerous driving conditions.
