Muscat – The Dibba Waterfront Development Project in Musandam governorate has achieved 98.5% completion and is expected to be finished later this year, marking a major step in the government’s efforts to enhance sustainable development and make the most of the governorate’s coastal and natural potential.

Implemented by the Office of the Governor of Musandam with support from OQ Exploration and Production, the project is among the key strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening tourism, recreation, and public services, while supporting the local economy and improving the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al Huma al Mayasi, Wali of Dibba, said the 1.3km-long waterfront will serve as a comprehensive tourist destination for visitors to Diba and Musandam in general. “The project will attract more beachgoers and stimulate economic, tourism, and social activities across the governorate,” he said.

The project includes a range of facilities such as a concrete breakwater, pedestrian walkway, children’s play areas, landscaped green spaces, parking areas, and an open-air circular theatre accommodating around 200 people. The walkway is illuminated by 150 lighting poles, each 5m high, creating a safe and vibrant environment for visitors day and night.

The Wali added that the project marks “a qualitative leap” in developing Musandam’s tourism and recreational infrastructure. “It offers an ideal setting for sports and leisure activities, promoting a healthy lifestyle and enhancing Musandam’s position as an integrated tourism destination combining natural beauty with modern amenities,” he said.

He further noted that the project adheres to the highest environmental sustainability standards to protect natural resources and maintain ecological balance, ensuring harmony with Dibba’s natural and aesthetic character.

Once completed, the Dibba waterfront is expected to become one of Musandam’s most attractive destinations, reflecting Oman’s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and improving the quality of life for communities across the sultanate.
