Muscat – Oman will host the World Cancer Summit 2025 from November 3, bringing together international experts to strengthen cooperation in the fight against cancer.

Organised by the Oman Cancer Association (OCA) in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Development and the Qatar Cancer Society, the four-day summit will take place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event aims to consolidate global efforts in cancer prevention, research and treatment, while promoting innovation and sustainable healthcare solutions. The programme will feature sessions on healthcare technologies, policy frameworks and public awareness, alongside workshops and an exhibition showcasing advances in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and digital health tools.

H E Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, said hosting the summit reflects Oman’s commitment to international collaboration in cancer awareness, prevention and control. “Through this event, we seek to exchange expertise, showcase research and adopt best practices that strengthen medical capacities and accelerate treatment and recovery,” he said.

H E Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, underlined the role of civil society in supporting public health partnerships, noting that the summit highlights community institutions’ contribution to sustainable development and social well-being.

Describing the summit as a milestone in the association’s two-decade journey, Dr Wahid bin Ali al Kharousi, Chairman of OCA, informed that global specialists in oncology, diagnostics, palliative care and artificial intelligence will address topics including immunotherapy, personalised vaccines and advanced cell therapies.

He added that the summit will conclude with the adoption of the Muscat Declaration — a joint document outlining adaptable guidelines for cancer prevention and control to be shared with participating nations.

The conference will also focus on regional capacity building in early detection and treatment, strengthening research collaboration, expanding community awareness and encouraging investment in long-term health initiatives.

The event will close with the 21st Annual Oman Cancer Association Walk, held alongside the summit, with participation from officials, partners and the public to raise awareness and express solidarity with patients.

The summit coincides with OCA’s 25th anniversary, marking 25 years of contributions to cancer education, prevention and patient support, and reaffirming Oman’s growing role in regional and global health cooperation.
