Jabal Akhdar – The ‘Run and Explore’ Himam Trail Run Race concluded on Friday evening in the Jabal Akhdar mountains, drawing 610 participants, including 450 male and female runners from 24 countries and 160 children competing in junior categories.

The event featured three main distances for adults- 30km, 20km and 10km- along with a 4km race for children. It forms part of Oman’s growing trail running calendar and serves as a key preparatory event for the Himam Hajar Ultra Race, scheduled for December 2025.

In the men’s 30km category, Oman’s Amjad al Jamudi secured first place, followed by compatriots Saleh al Saeedi and Musa Salem al Subaihi in second and third, respectively. In the women’s 30km race, France’s Amal Ammari won first place, while Iran’s Raheela Abdulamir and China’s Liang Hao finished second and third.

Oman’s Ghaith al Saidi took the men’s 20km title, ahead of Nader Abdullah and Aws al Shabibi. In the women’s 20km race, Lebanon’s Ghina al Habbal claimed first place. Among the younger participants, Ahood al Hanai won the girls’ 4km race, followed by Maryam al Riyami and Janan al Toubia.

The trail event also highlighted Jabal Akhdar’s appeal as a destination for adventure and sports tourism, attracting local and international visitors and showcasing the region’s natural landscapes. Organisers said the race promoted outdoor activity and encouraged a healthy lifestyle, especially among young participants.

The award ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Dr Saeed bin Hareb al Lamki, Undersecretary for Health Affairs at the Ministry of Health, who honoured the winners. He commended the event’s organisation and the growing enthusiasm for trail running in Oman, noting its contribution to community sport, tourism and local development.
