Total FDI in Oman touches RO30.279bn in Q2 2025

Muscat – Oman recorded a 12.8% year-on-year increase in the volume of foreign direct investment in 2025 at the end of the second quarter, with total FDI reaching RO30.279bn, according to preliminary data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

FDI flows into the sultanate stood at RO3.434bn in Q2 2025, compared to RO3.855bn in the same period of 2024. The NCSI data showed that the oil and gas sector accounted for over 80% of total FDI stock, amounting to RO24.426bn. Inflow into this sector alone stood at RO3.575bn during the second quarter.

The manufacturing sector attracted foreign investments totalling RO2.701bn at the end of Q2 2025, with quarterly inflow of RO300mn. In the financial intermediation sector, FDI reached RO1.353bn, including Q2 inflow of RO6.5mn.

In real estate, rental and commercial project activities sectors, FDI totalled RO580mn – a 42.6% decrease compared to Q2 2024.

The transportation, storage and communications sector attracted RO353.5mn in total investment, a decrease of RO37.6mn compared Q2 2024. Investments in the electricity and water sector amounted to RO288mn, a decrease of 1.8% year-on-year. The trade sector recorded RO278.3mn in total FDI, with Q2 inflow of RO25mn.

FDI in the hotels and restaurants sector reached RO111.3mn at the end of Q2 2025, marking a slight decrease of 2.4% compared to the same period in 2024. The construction sector saw total FDI of RO98.8mn, with Q2 inflow of RO7.8mn.

The United Kingdom continued to be the largest foreign investor in Oman, accounting for 51.9% of total FDI. British investments in the sultanate stood at RO15.727bn at the end of the second quarter. The United States followed with RO8.09bn, Kuwait (RO1.362bn), China (RO854mn), Qatar (RO696mn), the UAE (RO613mn), the Netherlands (RO522mn) and Bahrain (RO496mn).
