Muscat – Within the framework of strengthening international trade relations and expanding the horizons of economic and investment cooperation, an official Omani delegation comprised of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry branches in North and South Batinah Governorates, along with a select group of Omani business owners, will head tomorrow, Friday, to participate in the Canton Fair in the People’s Republic of China which will be held from October 17 to 24, 2025, in the Chinese city of Guangzhou.
This move comes as part of the Chamber’s plans to support Omani products and open new markets for national industries. It will also explore the latest industrial and commercial practices and technologies in global markets and explore partnership and investment opportunities with international companies.
Engineer Hamoud bin Salem al Saadi, Second Vice Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of the Chamber’s South Batinah branch, and Head of the Trade Delegation, commented on this participation, saying: “The Canton Fair is one of the most prominent trade fairs in Asia, and our participation aims to enable Omani entrepreneurs to connect with global manufacturers and suppliers, explore partnership opportunities, and exchange expertise to serve the national economy.”
He indicated the importance of balancing exports and imports, striving through this participation to not only transport Omani products to China, but also showcase the stories and quality of Omani industry, as well as the Sultanate’s innovations in various fields. He also expressed the hope that this trip will be a starting point for long-term industrial partnerships.
Engineer Saeed bin Ali al Abri, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s North Batinah branch, expressed the importance of this visit, saying: “This visit represents an important opportunity to promote Omani capabilities in various fields and to build bridges of cooperation with major Chinese companies. We are focused on developing foreign trade relations and raising the level of trade exchange to benefit businesses owners and investors in the Sultanate.”*
Engineer Saeed al Abri also confirmed that their embarking on this mission carries great hopes that it will serve as a bridge toward opening new markets for Omani companies, and that the Canton Fair is an invaluable global platform for knowledge exchange and trade, seizing every moment to promote Omani products amidst global competition.
The delegation’s visit schedule will include attending the exhibition, meeting with representatives of Chinese companies, and organising field visits to industrial zones in China, enhancing opportunities for exchanging expertise and developing Omani businesses on a global level.

In 2024, China’s exports to Oman reached approximately $5.8 billion, leading in sectors including machinery and equipment, electrical and electronic appliances, and metal products. Oman’s exports to China in 2023 reached approximately $597.24 million, distributed among organic chemicals, plastics, minerals, and fishery products, in addition to oil and fuel exports.
It’s worth noting that China occupies an important position as a source of imports for Oman. Omani statistics indicate that China ranks second among exporting countries to Oman, with imports valued at approximately OMR 854 million in the first half of 2025. Furthermore, the Sultanate of Oman exports some fish products to the Chinese market as part of its new export initiatives.
The Canton Fair, officially known as the China Import and Export Fair, was established in 1957 and is held twice a year (spring and autumn) in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, southern China. It is organized by the China Foreign Trade Center, under the supervision of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. It is one of the largest and oldest trade fairs in the world, with more than 25,000 companies participating and more than 200,000 buyers from over 200 countries visiting.
