Muscat – Oman Film Society (OFS) organised a specialised training workshop on cinematography on Thursday, in collaboration with Sony Middle East and Africa FZE, as part of its efforts to develop the skills of filmmakers and promote the cinematic movement in the sultanate.

Led by Bahraini director Jaan al Balushi, the workshop drew more than 350 young cinema and photography enthusiasts. It covered the fundamentals of filming cinematic scenes, with focus on professional lighting techniques and the application of these in both dramatic and documentary productions.

Participants were introduced to the latest Sony camera technologies and advanced features designed to enhance creativity and visual quality. A practical session allowed them to film dramatic scenes using Sony’s professional equipment, gaining hands-on experience in lighting and cinematography in a realistic work environment.

At the conclusion, Sony Middle East offered participants exclusive deals, reaffirming its commitment to supporting local talent and encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge filmmaking technologies.

The workshop was part of a series of OFS programmes aimed at nurturing a new generation of filmmakers capable of producing innovative content and positioning Oman as a promising destination in the global film industry.
