Muscat – Royal Oman Police (ROP) has confirmed that poisoning caused by contaminated bottled water in Suwaiq on Monday resulted in the deaths of an Omani man and expatriate woman.

According to the ROP, laboratory analysis of samples of the bottled water imported from Iran under the commercial name ‘Uranus Star’ confirmed contamination.

In response, relevant authorities immediately withdrew the product from local markets and implemented precautionary measures to safeguard public health.

Pending further investigation, the government has suspended import of all bottled water from Iran.

ROP urged citizens and residents not to consume bottled water of the brand name ‘Uranus Star’ and to promptly report any suspected cases of contamination.
