Muscat – With the Royal blessing of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Royal Academy of Management (RAM) announced the launch on Tuesday of the ‘One Team Initiative’, described as the first national programme of its kind in the region dedicated to developing a unified mindset in government work.
In its inaugural year, 5,000 employees from 19 government entities will participate, representing the State’s Administrative Apparatus.
Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of RAM’s Board of Trustees, said the initiative reflects His Majesty the Sultan’s commitment to instilling a spirit of collective responsibility that transcends functional roles. He informed that it aligns with global changes in the nature of government service and the growing emphasis on impact in society.
Dr Ali bin Qassim al Lawati, President of RAM, said the initiative is a national effort to build a culture of shared responsibility across government. “Participants in the first year form the foundation of a continuing journey to instil the spirit of working as one government team, contributing to the realisation of Oman Vision 2040,” he said. The initiative will gradually extend to all employees over the next five years.
According to Hilal bin Mudhafar al Riyami, Head of the One Initiative Team, its goals will be pursued through four dimensions – reinforcing the higher purpose of public service; encouraging employees to act as responsible citizens in society; strengthening the collective role of government in shaping Oman’s future; and engaging with global developments while upholding national values.
The initiative’s framework includes a ‘One-Day Workshop’ for employees to reflect on their impact, an ‘Ambassadors Programme’ to instil its values in daily practice, and a ‘Train the Facilitators Programme’ to prepare national talents to lead interactive workshops. It also incorporates ongoing impact evaluation and a communication campaign to raise awareness.
