Muscat – Oman Cancer Association (OCA) has announced that the sultanate will host the World Cancer Congress and Exhibition 2025 from November 3 to 6 at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Organised in cooperation with Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Development and Qatar Cancer Society, the congress will coincide with OCA’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

The congress will highlight the latest developments in cancer care, aiming to promote international collaboration, raise awareness and enhance prevention efforts. It also seeks to empower patients, build medical capacity, and support scientific research to help advance a healthier and more sustainable future.

Over the course of four days, the congress will feature intensive scientific sessions, high-level policy discussions and hands-on workshops. Medical experts, researchers and policymakers from across the globe will gather to exchange knowledge on innovative treatment methods, advanced diagnostic tools and effective public health strategies. Attendees will also have the opportunity to earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, accredited by Oman Medical Specialty Board.

Running alongside the congress, an international exhibition will showcase the latest advancements in pharmaceuticals, medical technologies, digital health solutions, palliative and rehabilitative care, nutritional supplements and integrated health services. The exhibition is expected to attract participation from leading healthcare providers and industry innovators.

The event is set to welcome a wide range of professionals and stakeholders, including oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, general practitioners, nurses, researchers, academics, policy advisers, international organisations, non-governmental organisations and representatives from the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and health technology sectors. This diverse participation reflects the congress’s focus on a comprehensive and collaborative approach to addressing cancer-related challenges.

In an effort to engage the broader community, the first day of the congress will include an open public session, offering insights into new cancer treatments such as personalised vaccines, precision oncology and CAR T-cell therapy.

The session will also address common misconceptions, such as the belief that cancer is contagious or that surgery causes it to spread. In addition, psychological support sessions will be conducted by medical experts and cancer survivors, providing emotional and mental health guidance.

The congress marks a significant milestone for Oman’s healthcare sector, positioning the sultanate as a regional hub for medical innovation and international cooperation in the fight against cancer.
