Muscat – Oman Airports has announced the launch of a direct air route linking the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China from November 30.
Developed in cooperation with Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Embassy of China in Muscat, in coordination with China Eastern Airlines, the new route will connect Muscat International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport.
The service will operate twice a week – Sunday and Wednesday – using Airbus A330-300 aircraft of 299-seat capacity. The route aims to enhance air connectivity and meet the growing demand from business and leisure travellers.
Ahmed bin Said al Amri, CEO of Oman Airports, said launch of the direct route between Muscat and Beijing represents a strategic addition to the network of international destinations. “It will contribute to supporting the tourism and investment sectors and strengthen Oman’s position as a major regional hub in the fields of aviation and logistics services,” he added.
Li Bin, from China Eastern Airlines, stated that the cooperation reflects the strength of bilateral relations between Oman and China. “It will provide further facilities for travellers and businessmen, in addition to opening up broader horizons for economic and trade exchange.”
The launch is part of Oman Airports’ ongoing efforts to expand its air connectivity network with key global destinations. In recent months, it has introduced several new direct routes to regional and international cities, reflecting commitment to supporting the sultanate’s plans to develop the tourism sector, attract foreign investment, and enhance air cargo traffic and economic diversification.
