MOL urges workers and companies to act early for Professional Licences

Muscat – The Ministry of Labour in Oman has issued an important advisory urging all companies and workers to begin the process of obtaining the Professional Classification Certificate and the Professional Practice Licence at least one to two months before the expiration of the non-Omani worker’s residence card or the Omani worker’s employment contract.

This proactive step is designed to prevent delays and penalties from competent authorities. The Ministry’s announcement emphasizes the importance of adhering to the updated procedures to ensure timely verification and issuance of the necessary documents, helping businesses maintain smooth contract renewals and avoid disruptions.

The Ministry highlighted that early action provides multiple benefits, including avoiding administrative delays, ensuring business continuity, and enhancing company and worker readiness in line with professional accreditation requirements.

The notice specifically applies to workers in the logistics, energy, minerals, engineering, accounting, finance, and legal sectors. Companies are urged to complete the application process for the Professional Practice Licence and the Professional Classification Certificate in a timely manner to ensure a streamlined work environment.
