Salalah – Dhofar will host the first ALECSO Regional Forum on Education in Culture and Arts from September 1 to 2. The event has been organised by Ministry of Education in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).

The forum will bring together experts in education, culture and the arts from ALECSO and representatives of Gulf Cooperation Council member states.

The initiative reflects ALECSO’s commitment to integrating culture and arts in education and aligns with the Unesco Global Framework for Culture and Arts Education launched at the 2024 World Conference in Abu Dhabi. It also aims to enhance collaboration between governments, cultural institutions and the private sector, while encouraging investment in educational and cultural infrastructure.

Key highlights of the forum will include presentation of three reference guides – the School Theatre Guide, the Music Education Guide and the Visual Arts Education Guide – which are expected to support curriculum development and serve as practical resources for educational institutions.

Participants will also take part in field visits to leading educational and cultural institutions in Dhofar and attend hands-on workshops on integrating modern technology into arts education. The organisers stated that these activities aim to improve teaching practices, foster creativity and inspire innovation among students.
