Muscat – Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has invited bids for the design and construction of a dual carriageway in Suhar, North Batinah.
The 9km road will extend from Al Wahat Mall Roundabout to the bridge connecting with Al Batinah Expressway. The project is scheduled for completion in 18 months.
According to MTCIT, the project includes several roundabouts, box culverts to ensure smooth traffic during rains, and light pole installations. These are aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing safety and serving road users more efficiently.
The project has been designed to handle future traffic growth, improve connectivity within the governorate, and facilitate access for emergency and service vehicles. The route will also serve Suhar Hospital and Al Saada Hospital, both located nearby.
Officials said the new road is expected to reduce congestion during peak hours, shorten travel time, and support local infrastructure by improving mobility and travel speeds.
The ministry stated that the project supports Oman Vision 2040 objectives by strengthening the country’s road network and contributing to economic and social growth through modern, safe and sustainable transport infrastructure.
