Muscat – In a step towards environmental sustainability, the Environment Authority has planted 50,000 mangrove seedlings in Khor Shinas, located in the wilayat of Shinas.

The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of coastal ecosystems and support the long-term sustainability of mangrove forests, which serve as vital natural incubators for biodiversity in the Sultanate of Oman.

Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting shorelines, improving water quality, and providing habitats for a wide range of marine species. The plantation effort is part of an ongoing national initiative to plant 10 million trees to preserve Oman’s rich environmental heritage and promote ecological balance.
