Muscat – The Basic Services Sector of National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) convened its first meeting of 2025 on Tuesday to discuss a series of measures to strengthen joint response capabilities and ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential services during emergencies.

Chaired by Mansour Talib al Hinai, Chairman of Authority for Public Services Regulation and Head of the Basic Services Sector, the meeting was attended by representatives of authorities responsible for roads, electricity, telecommunications, water and sanitation, energy, fuel and waste management.

Participants discussed key challenges related to handling emergency scenarios and emphasised the need for coordinated planning, clear responsibilities and improved readiness across service providers.

Executive decisions were issued aligned with NCEM’s vision of ‘integration of efforts and performance effectiveness’ aimed at ensuring swift and coordinated response during national crises.

The meeting highlighted the importance of ensuring continuity in supply and procurement chains, especially for essential goods such as bread and meat. Members underlined the need to provide sufficient resources to activate emergency and media response plans and prevent potential shortages.
