Salalah – The Maritime Security Center (MSC) has reported the sinking of a commercial vessel named Phoenix 15, flying the Comoros flag, approximately 20 nautical miles southeast of Salalah.
According to the Center, the incident occurred earlier Saturday, prompting a swift response from nearby maritime assets. All 20 crew members aboard the distressed vessel were successfully rescued by another commercial ship, Gulf Barakah, which was navigating in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
MSC confirmed that it had closely monitored the situation and coordinated with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of the crew. No injuries were reported.
An investigation is expected to be launched to determine the cause of the vessel’s sinking.
MSC reiterated its commitment to maritime safety and urged all vessels transiting Omani waters to adhere to international safety standards and report any incidents promptly.
