Beauty care for wintry weather

14 Dec 2020

The weather has become cool and pleasant but you simply cannot avoid the hassles that come with it which tend to tale a toll on your skin and complexion. Wintry weather can dry out our skin, make it lose its natural sheen and texture, and appear weather-beaten. But why worry, here are some tips that will help you get through winter keeping your skin glowing and radiant all the way:

1.Milk Bath

Give yourself a milk bath at least once a week. Bathe in milk to enjoy the skin nourishing benefits of lactic acid and natural fats. Just add a couple of glasses of skim milk to a bucket of lukewarm water to soften your skin. You can also soak yourself in half a tub of water, proportionately adding milk to it, for 15 minutes before a final rinse.

Deep conditioner

If you have frizzy hair, you simply have to face the fact. But, during winter you can combat hair frizz by using a hair mask or deep conditioner at least once a week. The ones available in the market work well, or visit a salon to pamper yourself.

Cream blush

It’s time to switch your make-up routines to what suits you best in winter. Replace powder blush with cream blush as the former can make your face look cakey during winter. An make sure to remove your make-up with a  warm water rinse before going to bed everyday. Apply night cream.

Alcohol and caffeine

In winter, it is good to limit your alcohol and caffeine intake to keep your body from dehydrating. Too much of alcohol or caffeine tends to show up on the texture of your skin. So, if you love to retain your glow, stay away from some addictions for just a few months.

Body lotion

After a warm refreshing bath, it is important to seal in moisture into your skin by applying body lotion as soon as you step out of the shower. Don’t wait to do it after you dress up or finish combing your hair. In fact, keep your body lotion handy in your bath to dab yourself before you step out.

Mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow

Winter is the right time to wear waterproof mascara and eyeliner so that your make-up won’t run when your eyes start to water due to cold winds. Using eye pencils is also a good alternative. Wear eyeshadows in satin and shimmering hues as mattes can make dry skin more obvious.

Lipstick

Wear a shade of red lipstick that is right for your skin tone to keep your complexion from looking completely washed out. Pale shades tend to give a dull look during winter. Make sure to coat your lips well and do a touch up when needed.

Shampoo, cleanser

Use dry shampoo in between your regular shampoo washes to help retain your hair’s natural oil. Also, use an oil-based cleanser to remove make-up instead of your regular make-up remover or make-up wipes.
