OQ Salalah unveils new brand identity

28 Aug 2024 By

Muscat – OQ Salalah, a company under the OQ Group based in Dhofar Governorate, announced its new brand identity, OQ Basic Industries (OQBi), on Wednesday. The rebranding is part of OQ Group’s strategy to maximise investment returns in the region and establish a distinct corporate identity for its subsidiaries both domestically and internationally.

The launch ceremony was attended by Ashraf Hamed al Mamari, CEO of OQ Group; Hilal Ali al Kharousi, Chief Executive – Commercial and Downstream at OQ Group; along with other officials and employees of the company.

The new identity for OQ Basic Industries represents the operational plants of OQ in the Salalah Free Zone, which include three major facilities: Salalah Ammonia Plant, Salalah LPG Plant, and Salalah Methanol Plant. These facilities play a crucial role in Oman’s industrial sector, particularly in advancing clean manufacturing processes and boosting exports.

Notably, all products from the methanol and ammonia plants, along with 90% of the LPG plant’s output, are exported. The ammonia plant has a daily operational capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes, producing ammonia used in various industries, including fertilisers, industrial chemicals, urea, cleaning products, and refrigerants.

With a daily capacity of 3,000 metric tonnes, the methanol plant supplies methanol for a wide array of industrial applications, such as the production of plastics, synthetic fibers, and medical and chemical products.

The Salalah LPG Plant, one of Oman’s most significant fuel processing projects, is enhancing the gas value chain. It operates at a capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes per day, producing propane, butane, and condensates. Locally, LPG is used to supply cooking gas to Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, thus increasing added value within Oman. Additionally, 90% of the plant’s production is destined for export.

The launch of the OQ Basic Industries brand marks a pivotal step in solidifying the company’s economic presence in the Dhofar region and empowering the industrial sector. The brand’s vision, ‘Leadership through global solutions and exceptional talent,’ reflects the company’s ambition and commitment to driving growth, implementing best practices, and maintaining a competitive edge in global markets.

The new OQ Basic Industries identity aligns with OQ Group’s ambition to support Oman Vision 2040 by pursuing sustainable growth and operational excellence, fostering a people-centric culture, advancing decarbonisation initiatives, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting local development.

This new brand identity underscores the company’s dedication to continuous improvement, the advancement of clean energy industries, and the pursuit of carbon neutrality, contributing to sustainability, economic diversification, and future investment opportunities.

In a press statement, Eng Khalid Khalfan al Asmi, Managing Director of OQ Basic Industries, said that as the energy investment arm of the OQ Group in Dhofar Governorate, the company’s new identity reflects its commitment to economic diversification and maximising returns, making it easier to measure progress in industrial initiatives and projects.

Asmi added, “We are proud to unveil our new brand identity, which represents the significant contributions of our industrial sectors to the economic and investment growth of Dhofar Governorate.”

He emphasised the company’s dedication to fostering innovation through various initiatives while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability, preserving Omani identity, and continuously seeking growth opportunities that drive progress and align with global and local economic trends.
