Suwaiq – Ministry of Labour (MoL) conducted a campaign on Tuesday to raise awareness on the policy of stopping work at construction sites and open areas during midday hours in the summer months.

A statement issued by MoL said, ‘The Directorate General of Labour in Suwaiq, North Batinah implemented an awareness campaign for business owners about the policy of stopping work from 12.30pm to 3.30pm at construction sites in the months of June, July and August.’

Companies that do not comply face heavy fines. Under Article 16 of Ministerial Decision No 286/2008, outdoor workers in Oman must not work in high temperatures during the summer months. Working hours are split between two shifts based on the midday break.
