Muscat – Four expats have been arrested on charges of online fraud after duping individuals into providing their bank details, including one-time passwords (OTPs), according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

In a statement issued by ROP said, ‘The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation arrested four people of Asian nationality for defrauding citizens and residents by contacting them via phone, falsely claiming the need to update their bank information, and subsequently requesting the OTP to facilitate withdrawals from the victims’ accounts.’

Legal procedures have been completed against them, it stated.
