Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT), in collaboration with South Sharqiyah governorate, launched the executive programme for Sur, the Arab Tourism Capital 2024.

The launch coincided with the inauguration of the Sur Maritime Heritage Festival, aligning perfectly with Oman’s celebration of Arab Tourism Day on February 25 annually.

The inauguration ceremony, which was held at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in the wilayat of Sur, was sponsored by H E Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, and in the presence of H E Salem bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, H E Dr Yahya bin Badr al Maawali, Governor of South Sharqiyah, and H E Dr Bandar bin Fahd al Fuhid, President of the Arab Tourism Organisation.

The Sur Maritime Heritage Festival promises a plethora of activities including a heritage village, beach games, marine exhibits, folk arts, competitions, theatrical performances, poetry recitals, laser shows, and exhibitions showcasing local products like honey and dates.
