25 Feb 2024 Oman named guest country at Russia’s SPIEF 2024 By

Moscow, Russia –  Oman will be the guest country at Russia’s St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2024 set to take place from June 5 to 8.

Guest country status at the forum includes a whole range of opportunities at business and cultural programme events. Over the last 24 years, the forum has become a leading global platform for members of the business community to meet and discuss the key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets and the world as a whole.

The invitation was confirmed by H E Hamood bin Salim al Tuwaih, Ambassador of Oman to Russia, at a meeting with Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the Russian President, recently.

“In recent years, Qatar, Egypt and the UAE have all served as guest countries at SPIEF, and in 2024 the honour is being conferred on the Sultanate of Oman. I have no doubt that Oman’s participation in SPIEF will spark an increase in trade and economic relations between our countries and make it possible for forum participants and local residents to learn more about the venerable history, traditions and culture of Oman,” Kobyakov said.

He added that despite the current geopolitical situation, Russia continues to develop mutually beneficial relations with the Arab world. “Nowhere is this more apparent than in the participation of Arab leaders in SPIEF, the Russia–Africa Summit, and high-level summits in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.”

During the meeting, the parties discussed matters related to preparing for the event and strategies for how to most effectively position Oman within SPIEF 2024.
