First flight for khareef lands in Salalah

Muscat – National carrier Oman Air has confirmed that bookings to Salalah have increased 20% this khareef compared to the last season.

The increase in demand is the result of Royal Directives to provide direct subsidies in fuel prices at Salalah Airport. With this, ticket prices between Muscat and Salalah for return journey was fixed for citizens at RO54 for adults, RO36 for children and RO10 for infants for the entire period of khareef.

Adel bin Ahmed al Zadjali, Oman Air’s Regional Vice-President of Commercial Affairs, said that these prices will be evaluated for the possibility of being continued even after khareef.

He told ONA that fixing fares will address the issue of high ticket prices witnessed in past seasons. “This will contribute to enhancing domestic tourism, in addition to supporting the movement of citizens between Muscat and Salalah.”

Zadjali informed that Oman Air is currently focusing on increasing flights to the city of Salalah with the rise in demand during khareef. “We are studying our flights to other destinations that are not currently witnessing high demand and directing these to Salalah.”

He added that the national carrier will add seven flights per day to Salalah starting July, taking the total number of flights to 11 per day, which can be increased in the event of further demand.

“We will have 14 counters at Muscat International Airport and 12 at Salalah Airport for flights between Muscat and Salalah.”
