Muscat – Asyad Group, represented by Oman Post and Asyad Express, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) to promote last-mile services and e-commerce solutions between the two countries.
Aligned with the strategic direction to improve access to the rapidly developing African market, the MoU was signed by Nasser al Sharji, CEO of Oman Post and Asyad Express, and Macrice Daniel Mbodo, postmaster general of TPC.
The agreement addresses several key themes, including experience and knowledge transfer, particularly to introduce e-locker solutions in Tanzania, according to a press statement.
A new postal stamp is also set to be launched celebrating the rich cultural connections and shared history between Oman and Tanzania. Stamps and other items will be available for purchase via the e-stores of Oman Post and TPC.
Highlighting the significance of the new strategic partnership, Sharji, said, “This memorandum is an excellent first step towards advancing door-to-door delivery capabilities to support international shipping in collaboration with TPC. We plan to utilize this cooperation to launch services in African markets which will unlock bilateral trade opportunities and allow us to deploy additional commercial and logistics offerings, with a key focus on e-commerce activities in the rapidly growing Tanzanian market.”
“The significance of this agreement is multifaceted as it will enable us to support e-commerce shopping from Africa with improved last-mile delivery, in addition to postal and logistics services offered in Oman,” Sharji said.
He further said that Oman Post and Asyad Express will leverage this arrangement to open new investment channels for Omani private companies and SMEs to enter the Tanzanian markets and, subsequently, expand to neighboring African markets. “In return, Oman Post and Asyad Express will transfer knowledge and provide innovative solutions to TPC under this exciting partnership.”
Mbodo said, “The rapid growth of e-commerce is undoubtedly changing the nature of postal work. Asyad, represented by Oman Post and Asyad Express, is the leading provider of e-commerce supply chain solutions in Oman, and we will work closely together under this partnership to transform the services of TPC to meet our customers’ expectations. TPC plays a key role in the economic and social development of the country, and we are pleased to add value to our offering and connect the Tanzanian and Omani markets with advanced e-commerce solutions.”
Building on a long history of strong trade and cultural relations, this memorandum of understanding is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, the economic and investment partnerships and the cultural and scientific exchange between Oman and Tanzania.
