Muscat – The Emergency Nursing Program of the Higher Institute for Health Specialties organised the ‘Initiate, Learn, Save a Soul’ event on Thursday evening in Al Sahwa Public Parks.
The event was held in collaboration with the Muscat Municipality, the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority of the Royal Oman Police, the Petroleum Development Oman, and Bank Muscat, according to a press release.
The event focused on enhancing the information and capabilities of community members in providing first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and dealing with many injuries such as various sports injuries, and burns, as well as the proper use of medicines and other methods of dealing with emergency cases.
The event was organised by the programme’s students under the supervision of the academic staff, in order to provide the students with basic knowledge and skills in the search for evidence, effective communication and collaboration with various bodies, whether health, government agencies, the private sector and other segments of society, which prepares them for their future role as a nurse and responsible citizen in the community.
The event was attended by a large number of citizens and residents visiting the park, which had an impact on the success of this event. It is worth mentioning that the Emergency Nursing Program is one of the nine specializations offered at the Higher Institute for Health Specialties, and it graduates emergency nurses from various governorates in the Sultanate. The event is one of its annual activities.
The programme had many similar contributions previously in public sites such as the Qurum Natural Park and some shopping centers, and there will sure be other events in the future.
The Emergency Nursing Program seeks to raise the level of awareness and capabilities of community members to intervene quickly in various emergency situations.
The Higher Institute for Health Specialties contributes to the development and promotion of community health by enhancing health awareness among its members by providing various awareness programmes and events concerned with the health and safety of the community.
