Preparations for 52nd National Day celebrations begin

6 Apr 2022 By

Muscat – The Secretariat General of National Celebrations (SGNC), the government body tasked with organising National Day events, has invited people from across Oman to send their design proposals for the National Day decorations.

Kick-starting the preparations for the 52nd National Day, SGNC in a statement, said, ‘We invite the public to send proposals for the artistic designs for the National Day decorations. The owners of the selected designs will receive financial rewards.’

The Sultan Qaboos Street leading from Al Alam Palace in the wilayat of Muscat to Al Baraka Palace in the wilayat of Seeb has been chosen as the main site for the decorations, it stated.

The SGNC confirmed that the types of decorations required on the Sultan Qaboos Street are for bedecking trees, side paths and government buildings.

SGNC has laid down conditions and specifications for the designs, such as ornamental forms must express a clear meaning of the Omani heritage or plants or music, with a simplified explanation of the design or the ornamental form.

‘The participant must abide by the three colours of the sultanate’s flag (white, red and green). The designs of the ornamental shapes should be simple and clear, and be in harmony with the celebrations of the National Day, and free from complexity for ease of manufacturing.’ The winning design will be owned by SGNC.

The deadline for submission of designs is April 19.
