Nizwa – The Nizwa Public Park, developed at a cost of approximately RO2.57mn across 150,000sqm, was officially opened on Monday night, marking a major addition to recreational facilities in Dakhliyah governorate.

Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed Al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, inaugurated the park at a ceremony attended by officials and other guests. The event also witnessed the launch of the governorate’s unified audio identity, designed to highlight its cultural heritage through traditional Omani music and arts.

The governor inspected the park’s recreational, sports, cultural, service and investment facilities, as well as an accompanying exhibition showcasing products by entrepreneurs and productive families.

He said the opening represented a new phase in the governorate’s efforts to develop public facilities and improve residents’ quality of life. The project aims to provide integrated recreational spaces that meet the needs of families and residents while generating social and economic benefits.

Al Hajri stressed the importance of ensuring the sustainability of development projects, improving operational efficiency and monitoring service quality. He also highlighted the role of public-private partnerships in managing and operating facilities and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs.

The park features more than 40 facilities, including green spaces, restaurants, cafes, retail outlets and sports and recreational amenities. It also offers 15 investment opportunities valued at more than RO718,000 and is expected to create 50 job opportunities.

Since the start of its trial operation in April, the park has received more than 1.3mn visitors. The trial period enabled the authorities to assess the performance of facilities and introduce improvements ahead of its official opening.

The launch of Dakhliyah’s unified audio identity formed another highlight of the ceremony. Developed in a contemporary musical style, it incorporates elements of traditional Omani arts, including Al Razha, Al Azi and Al Qidha, alongside melodies associated with celebrations marking the completion of Holy Quran memorisation.
