Bidiyah – Bidiyah Park Centre has been completed at a cost of RO2.547mn, marking an important addition to North Sharqiyah’s tourism and recreational infrastructure. Spanning more than 217,000sqm, the project is designed to provide a venue for entertainment, family activities and public events.

Implemented through North Sharqiyah Municipality, the park features nine retail outlets, four restaurants, five kiosks, a fully equipped theatre and dedicated play areas.

Nasser bin Mohammed Al Amri (in the photo above), Director of Bidiyah Municipality, said the project would enhance the wilayat’s tourism, cultural, social and recreational offerings, building on its natural attractions and growing popularity during the winter tourism season.

Bidiyah experiences increased tourism activity between October and the end of March, when visitors are drawn to its desert landscape and outdoor activities. The new facility is expected to complement these attractions, expand leisure options for residents and visitors, and support local businesses through increased demand for tourism-related services.

Designed to host events of all kinds, the park includes an open-air theatre equipped with presentation and lighting systems, halls for conferences and seminars, electronic gaming, children’s play areas, walkways, open spaces and landscaped green areas. The entrance design takes inspiration from the desert and sandy terrain for which Bidiyah is renowned.

North Sharqiyah is offering an investment opportunity to operate and develop the centre. The proposal includes the construction of a multipurpose hall covering 3,160sqm and utilisation of an additional plot of vacant land measuring 32,000sqm.

The investment opportunity is intended to enhance the park’s role as a destination for entertainment, shopping and events, while encouraging private-sector participation in the development and operation of tourism facilities.

The park is intended to host cultural and heritage events, theatrical performances, family entertainment and children’s activities. Seasonal exhibitions and markets will also provide local producers and entrepreneurs with opportunities to showcase their products and reach a wider customer base.

By bringing recreational facilities, commercial outlets and event spaces together, the project aims to strengthen the link between Bidiyah’s established tourism appeal and new investment opportunities, while providing residents with additional leisure facilities.
