Masirah- The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has seized 240 non-compliant cigarettes, 521 units of smokeless chewing tobacco and three packages of a product known as “Chun” from a retail outlet in the Wilayat of Masirah.

The seizure was carried out by judicial enforcement officers from the Authority’s office in Masirah, under the Consumer Protection Department in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, during an inspection visit to verify compliance with approved standards and regulations.

The inspection revealed that the products, including cigarettes that failed to meet approved specifications, were concealed in a corner of the shop. All seized items were confiscated, and legal proceedings were initiated against the violator in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The Authority said the operation forms part of its ongoing inspection efforts to protect public health and consumer safety, curb unlawful commercial practices and prevent the circulation of prohibited products and goods that fail to meet approved standards.

The CPA reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying market surveillance and taking the necessary legal action against violators to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations.
