Dakhliyah Governorate has signed 33 development and investment pacts, including eight development contracts valued at more than RO 6 mn and 25 investment agreements expected to generate revenues exceeding RO 1.8 mn, in a drive to strengthen infrastructure and expand economic opportunities across its wilayats.
Road projects account for a significant share of the development contracts, led by the Al Washhi–Al Tasawir road in Izki, valued at RO 2.2 mn, and the second phase of the internal roads project in Samail, costing more than RO 1.6 mn.
The agreements also cover the maintenance of damaged roads in Nizwa, Bahla, Al Hamra and Adam at an estimated cost of RO 922,000, alongside similar works in Bidbid, Samail and Izki valued at more than RO 1 mn.
Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, said the pacts form part of efforts to expand economic activity, improve public services and maximise the use of local resources and potential.
He said the initiatives align with national development priorities and Oman Vision 2040, particularly in strengthening the role of governorates, encouraging private-sector participation and diversifying the national economy.
Tourism and recreation feature prominently among the investment agreements. At Nizwa Public Park, the contracts cover the investment, management and operation of its library, indoor gaming hall, cafes and retail outlets, as well as the Nizwa Gate building.
In Al Hamra, planned investments include a 9,000-sqm recreational stopover at the Al Hamra Visitors Center, a zip-line, coffee and fruit farms at Jabal Shams Waterfront, and a tourist restaurant.
Other projects include the Sky Dome, combining dining facilities with an astronomical dome for observing stars and planets, and restaurant and cafe facilities at Eastern Mountain Oasis.
The agreements also cover recreational games at Bahla Public Park, development of Al Mudairah Park in Samail, a drive-through cafe in Bidbid, and commercial and industrial ventures in Izki.
In Manah, an investment project will recycle tree waste to manufacture charcoal, supporting waste reduction and the circular economy.
Separately, Dakhliyah Governorate has floated tenders worth more than RO 4.5 million for road maintenance, public facilities, walkways, market improvements, lighting and engineering consultancy services.
The combined initiatives aim to improve infrastructure, enhance the use of public assets and create new opportunities for private investment, supporting sustainable economic growth across the governorate.
