Muscat – Several governorates are accelerating major infrastructure, tourism and urban development projects, with dozens of schemes under execution and new investment opportunities being prepared to support economic activity and improve quality of life.
In Dakhliyah, 33 projects were under execution at the end of September 2026, with a combined value of approximately RO34mn, according to Mohamed Ali Al Wardi, Director of the Projects Department.
The projects include roads, public facilities, markets, parks, destination development, and tourism and service projects.
Among the major projects is the Dakhliyah Square in Nizwa, covering more than 140,000sqm at a cost of approximately RO8.373mn. The project is 71% complete and includes green spaces, recreational facilities, an events arena, investment sites and sales outlets.
The first phase of the Jabal Shams Waterfront in Al Hamra is being implemented at a cost of around RO2.9mn. Meanwhile, the Eastern Mountain Oasis, covering nearly 10,000sqm, has reached 90% completion and includes pedestrian walkways, shaded areas, play spaces and landscaping.
Four development projects in South Sharqiyah are being showcased at Urban October 2026.
The Al Ashkharah Beach Waterfront project has reached 76% completion, while the Ras Al Hadd Waterfront is in the tendering stage. The Al Barr Waterfront Walkway in Sur is 55% complete and the Qahwan Walkway in Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan has reached 15%.
The Al Ashkharah and Al Barr projects are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
Elsewhere, Muflih bin Said Masan, Head of the Investment Development Department at Dhofar Governor’s Office, said the governorate is presenting investment opportunities aligned with Oman Vision 2040.
Four opportunities are being showcased in Salalah and Mirbat: an international restaurant, truck park, tourist resort and events hall. The Gold Souq project is 70% complete, while the Used Car Market has reached 52%.
In Dhahirah, the RO5 Ibri Public Park project is 45% complete. The Yanqul Viewpoint has reached 79% completion, while Dhank Viewpoint is 85% complete.
The projects underline the government’s continued drive to improve infrastructure, develop tourism destinations, improve public spaces and create investment opportunities in line with the objectives of Vision 2040.
