Muscat – The National Health Insurance Platform (Dhamani) has processed more than 92mn insurance claims valued at over RO92mn and recorded more than 20mn digital transactions since its launch, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) said.
The platform is also moving towards the introduction of electronic prescription services, with efforts under way to connect all pharmacies in Oman to Dhamani and link them with hospitals and insurance companies.
The developments were highlighted by Ahmed bin Ali Al Mamari, Executive Vice President at the FSA, during the Dhamani Forum, held under the theme ‘In Partnership with Doctors, We Expand Dhamani’s Success’. The forum brought together more than 200 doctors from various medical specialties.
The FSA said Dhamani had significantly transformed Oman’s health insurance market by reducing the time required to settle medical and financial approvals and strengthening coordination between healthcare providers and insurance companies.
Al Mamari said the increasing diversity of healthcare services, rising costs and complex procedures had made digital transformation essential to improving efficiency and enhancing the beneficiary experience.
Dhamani connects medical care with insurance procedures by automating processes, regulating relationships among participating parties and establishing a unified medical record for insured persons. This supports greater integration between medical decisions and insurance processes.
The FSA said connecting pharmacies to the platform would pave the way for specialised services, including electronic prescriptions, through integrated connectivity between pharmacies, hospitals and insurers. The move is expected to simplify procedures, improve coordination and further enhance the patient journey.
The forum also highlighted the role of doctors in the success of Dhamani and provided a platform to exchange practical observations and discuss the system’s development.
The programme included discussions on digital health and business intelligence applications, as well as an interactive panel involving healthcare and insurance specialists.
The FSA said continued integration of healthcare providers and pharmacies would expand access to Dhamani services and further strengthen Oman’s digital health insurance ecosystem.
