Muscat- All students receiving or eligible for monthly allowances under Oman’s internal scholarship system must complete electronic registration, including current students enrolled at private universities and colleges who are already receiving the allowance, the Social Protection Fund (SPF) has said.

The Fund said registration is required to update and unify beneficiary data, verify eligibility under approved criteria, and link students’ personal, educational and bank account information through an integrated electronic system.

It stressed that receiving an allowance during the previous period does not exempt current students from registering, as the process is necessary to update their information and verify that they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.

For new students, registration will enable the Fund to verify their information and include eligible applicants in the allowance disbursement process.

The initiative involves coordination between the SPF, the Ministry of Education, the National Records Centre of the Royal Oman Police and other relevant entities. Electronic data exchange allows the authorities to verify information required to determine eligibility, reducing procedures for beneficiaries and improving the accuracy and speed of service delivery.

The Fund said the monthly allowance service is available electronically, eliminating the need for students to visit its offices. Students can complete the registration process remotely at a time convenient to them.

Eligibility is determined according to approved criteria covering the family’s social and economic circumstances, as well as the distance between the student’s place of residence and the educational institution.
