Muscat- Twenty-seven crew members were evacuated from an Antigua and Barbuda-flagged merchant vessel after it was targeted about 2.5 nautical miles off the Governorate of Musandam.

A Royal Navy of Oman vessel, working in coordination with the relevant authorities, carried out the evacuation operation involving the CAPE DAO.

The incident caused a fire in the vessel’s engine room and resulted in the death of one crew member.

The 27 evacuated crew members were provided with the necessary medical care following the operation.

The Royal Navy of Oman vessel responded to the incident and coordinated the evacuation with the concerned authorities, ensuring that the surviving crew members were safely evacuated from the targeted merchant vessel.
