Muscat- Oman’s total mobile telecommunications subscriptions rose 1 % year-on-year to 8,435,420 at the end of July 2026, compared with the corresponding period last year.

According to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), active postpaid mobile subscriptions increased 6.8 per cent to 1,326,014, while active prepaid mobile subscriptions declined 2.6 % to 5,394,199.

Subscriptions to Internet of Things (IoT) services recorded a 9.3 %  increase, reaching 1,715,207 by the end of July 2026.

In the fixed internet segment, subscriptions to fibre-optic services for homes and establishments grew 6.4 % to 366,686.

Meanwhile, fixed 5G subscriptions fell 3.% to 209,796, while fixed 4G subscriptions dropped sharply by 69.1 % to 5,333.

Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) subscriptions declined 21.4 % to 8,677. In contrast, satellite subscriptions recorded the highest growth among fixed internet technologies, surging 148.1 % to 1,871 by the end of July.

The total number of active fixed-line telephone subscriptions also edged up 0.5 per cent to 441,306.

Meanwhile, international internet capacity increased 31.8 % to 5,382,003 megabits per second (Mbps) by the end of July 2026.
