8 Sep 2026 Oman, Rwanda discuss strengthening economic and diplomatic ties

Salalah– H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign  Minister, met Olivier Jean Nduhungirehe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, on Tuesday at Al Hosn Palace in Salalah.

The meeting took place as part of the official visit to the Sultanate of Oman by Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda.

The two ministers agreed on the importance of establishing a follow-up programme to monitor the outcomes of the visit and the progress of the growing bilateral relations between Oman and Rwanda. They also discussed ways to build on the current momentum and advance ties towards a more diversified and integrated partnership based on mutual investment, the development of value-added projects, and stronger economic and logistical connectivity between the two countries.

They explored opportunities to translate existing understandings and agreements into practical programmes and projects in priority sectors, while encouraging partnerships between public- and private-sector institutions. Such cooperation, they noted, would broaden shared economic interests and open new avenues for trade, investment and knowledge exchange.

The two ministers also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, stressing the importance of continued consultation and coordination.

They highlighted the potential of both countries’ strategic positions and capabilities to build broader bridges of cooperation and connectivity between Oman and East Africa.
