8 Sep 2026 EV charging fees to begin October 1 By MUSCAT DAILY CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Electric vehicle (EV) owners in Oman will begin paying for public charging services from October 1, with tariffs ranging from 50 to 120 baisa per kilowatt-hour, according to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

The new tariff structure will be linked to the capacity of charging equipment, with higher-capacity and faster chargers attracting higher charges.

Charging tariffs will be:

  • 50 baisa/kWh — chargers with a capacity of 90 kW or less
  • 90 baisa/kWh — chargers with a capacity of 91–180 kW
  • 120 baisa/kWh — chargers with a capacity of 181 kW or more

The introduction of the tariffs marks a new phase in the development of Oman’s electric mobility infrastructure, as the country expands EV adoption and charging networks.

The new charges will apply from October 1.
